Level 1 – Diploma in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings – available in Bradford, Hull, Leeds
Level 2 – Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care – available in Bradford, Dewsbury, Hull and Leeds
Level 3 – Certificate in Health & Social Care (Year 1) – available in Bradford and Dewsbury
Level 3 – Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (Year 2) – available in Bradford

What units will I take in the Certificate?

Equality, Diversity & Rights in Health & Social Care – Developing real-life definitions and understanding laws & legislation which relate to Diversity, Equality & Inclusion
Human Growth & Development – Gaining an understanding of the life stages, researching significant life events, and understanding the nature vs. nurture debate
Safeguarding & protection in Health & Social Care – Studying laws & legislation relating to safeguarding. Researching types of abuse, and where to go for advice and help with such matters
Health & Safety – Taking part in risk assessments and case studies, researching Health and Safety Training: PPE, hand hygiene and employer & employee responsibilities
Person-Centred Support – Explore the needs, wishes and preferences of the individual and recognising the importance of person-centred support
Optional Units including: Introduction to Autistic Spectrum Condition; Introduction to Dementia; Introduction to Children & Young People’s Development

What units will I take in the Extended Diploma?

Following on from the certificate, you can then complete the extended diploma by taking part in the following units:

Communication in Health & Social Care – Looking at different communication methods, and how to meet the language needs and preferences of individuals
Working in Health & Social Care – Studying policies and procedures, and developing an understanding of their own professional development
Extended Diploma requires 2 optional units which could include: End of Life Care; Creative Activities in Health & Social Care; and Mental Health & Well-being

What will my study programme include?

Financial Support

The course is free to 16-19 year old learners. A bursary to assist with travel and day to day costs may be awarded dependent on circumstances.

This course is available in Bradford, Dewsbury, Hull, Leeds and Wakefield.

You must be a minimum of 16 years old
There are no formal entry requirements, but you need to show that you have an interest in working in health and social care
You will have the opportunity to work towards progressing to gain further qualifications in English and maths
