This course is available in Bradford, Leeds & Wakefield.
Level 1
It is important you enjoy working with people and enjoy working as part of a team. You will need to be well organised, a good timekeeper or willing to improve these skills. You should have a keen interest in construction even if you are not sure which trade you want to progress in.
Level 2
It is important you have a passion for work within the Construction industry. Due to the nature of practical ability needed for level 2 you must have achieved a level 1 Certificate or Diploma in Construction. You will need to be able to get along well with others and display our core values at all times: Professional, Respectful, Expert and Positive. Ideally you will be working towards or have achieved a level 1 in English and maths. You should be prepared to have classroom time as well as practical, (there is a significant amount of theory teaching in this qualification).
Level 1
You could progress onto a level 2 course in any of the trades covered at level 1. You could progress onto a level two BTEC FIRST course in multi-trades construction and the environment. You could progress onto a level two apprenticeship with a construction employer, Do be aware some employers are now looking for GCSEs at grade 4 so you will be expected to commit to maths and English alongside your construction qualification. Once you have gained experience within the construction trades you may decide to develop these skills and become self-employed in your own right or be a quality employee in a construction business.
Level 2
Subject to qualifications, ability and your soft skills, there is a wide variety of career options within the construction industry. From level 2 you can progress to, employment in the industry or apprenticeships. You could also progress to a level 3 course and aim higher for a degree.
